Bogus Lloyds TSB email

Some online banking customers have been receiving emails claiming to be from Lloyds TSB, asking users to confirm their email address by entering their confidential account details.

The link contained inside the emails may at first glance appear to be legitimate, but it is a scam to steal users' account details and potentially gain illegal access to accounts.

A typical version of the email follows:

Dear Lloyds TSB online customer!

For security purposes your account has been randomly chosen for verification. To verify your account information we are asking you to provide us with all the data we are requesting. Otherwise we will not be able to verify your identity and access to your account will be denied. Please click on the link below to get to the Lloyds TSB secure page and verify your account details. Thank you.

If you receive this or a similar message, you are advised not to reply to it or forward it to your friends and colleagues. The best advice is simply to delete the email.
