Sophos and Ositis partner to provide business-class anti-virus appliances

Sophos's virus detection engine becomes integral component of Ositis' AVStripper appliance

Ositis

Lynnfield, MA - Sophos, a world leader in corporate anti-virus solutions, today announced that it has signed a worldwide licensing agreement with Ositis Software Inc., a leading developer of security and internet access technologies. Under the terms of the agreement, Ositis will integrate Sophos's virus detection engine into its AVStripper appliance. In addition, the companies will leverage each other's extensive reseller relationships to extend the reach of both organizations.

AVStripper stops viruses at the gateway before they enter the network, removing them from the incoming data stream effectively and with no configuration of client computers, proxy servers or firewalls. By combining AVStripper's unique configuration and software with Sophos's dependable virus scanning engine, this partnership will offer current resellers and prospective customers a comprehensive security solution that scales to meet the needs of all organizations.

"We're committed to providing our customers and resellers the best quality product possible," said Vilis Ositis, president and CEO of Ositis. "Our resellers have been asking for this partnership for a while. Given that the Sophos virus detection engine is well-known for its comprehensiveness, and the Sophos virus labs are quick to market with updates, we felt confident in providing our customer base with this excellent solution."

Sophos's SAV Interface is specially designed to seamlessly integrate with industry-standard solutions like Ositis' AVStripper. With its low performance overhead and high-speed channel into the Sophos virus detection engine, SAV Interface allows superior virus detection and disinfection capabilities with minimal disruption to a corporate networking environment.

"Our reputation rests on the security of our customers, and we're confident that Ositis is as committed to the quality and level of service to their customers as we are to ours," said Ralph Pisani, Jr., director of strategic alliances at Sophos, Inc.

AVStripper can be used in conjunction with a wide variety of network products, including firewalls, mail servers, and desktop anti-virus solutions (such as those provided by Sophos), with minimal administration and configuration needs.
