Sophos Anti-Virus for NetWare receives Virus Bulletin 100% award

VB100% August 2002

Sophos, a world leader in corporate anti-virus protection, today announced that Sophos Anti-Virus for NetWare has been awarded the VB 100% award in the August 2002 edition of Virus Bulletin. This is the 17th time Sophos Anti-Virus has won a VB 100% award, confirming its position as one of the most powerful virus protection products available.

Virus Bulletin tested 9 different anti-virus products for their detection rates, lack of false alarms, and speed of scanning. Sophos Anti-Virus not only detected all the in-the-wild virus samples it was tested against, but also achieved a perfect score in the false alarm test.

Sophos outperformed a number of competing products which missed some of the commonly encountered in-the-wild viruses, including NAI McAfee NetShield.

"Customers need solutions which can protect against the commonly encountered virus threats," said Helen Martin, editor of Virus Bulletin. "Sophos Anti-Virus performed speedily, displaying excellent detection rates and justly earned its 17th VB 100% award."

Sophos Anti-Virus uses the same virus-finding engine in all of its products, ensuring a similarly high detection rate across all platforms.

About the Virus Bulletin 100% award

The Virus Bulletin 100% awards recognise those products best able to detect viruses known to be 'in the wild'. Unlike some other similar-sounding schemes, Virus Bulletin uses the most up-to-date WildList in its tests. This means that products that are 'up with the game' are the ones most likely to be granted VB 100% awards.
