Sophos Anti-Virus selected to safeguard IQuest Internet customers

Sophos partners with Indiana's largest regional internet service provider

IQuest Internet

Lynnfield, MA - Sophos, a world leader in corporate anti-virus solutions and IQuest Internet, Indiana's largest internet service provider, today announced that Sophos's reliable virus scanning technology will protect IQuest Internet clients.

IQuest Internet provides a comprehensive range of internet solutions primarily aimed at businesses who recognize the potential to increase productivity and profitability through internet technology. Sophos's award-winning anti-virus technology will now protect its clients against viruses. Through IQuest Internet, client messages, in addition to virus scanning, are subjected to an extensive heuristic test to identify SPAM, or unsolicited junk email.

"Security has become top priority for organizations as the number of viruses increase and customers are demanding more from their internet service providers and we are doing just that," said Jack Carr, chief operating officer at IQuest Internet. "Since most viruses arrive in attachment form in one's email, such as Anna Kournikova, we offer a solution that works in conjunction with a client's current anti-virus desktop product to ensure they have the best coverage available. We selected Sophos Anti-Virus because of its high detection rates and ease of integration."

With Sophos's powerful virus scanning engine, emails with attachments that enter the IQuest mail system will be decoded, then scanned for viruses. If they are clean, the message and the attachment are sent to the recipient. If they are infected, the attachment is quarantined, and the message gets sent to the recipient without the attachment. The scanner will let the recipient know that a virus was detected and removed. The sender will also receive notification that they have just sent a virus. If needed, the quarantined attachment will be recoverable for about a week.

"Recent virus outbreaks emphasize the importance of first-class virus protection and IQuest Internet's selection of Sophos Anti-Virus reinforces our level of leadership within the anti-virus industry, said Ralph Pisani, Jr., director of business development at Sophos Americas. "We are quite pleased to partner with such a respected, well-established organization."
