Sophos selected by IP Engine for Mail Warden products

Sophos, a world leader in corporate anti-virus protection, has announced today that its software has been selected by IP Engine, a developer of innovative email services. IP Engine has chosen to use Sophos's technology as the anti-virus component of its Mail Warden solution.

The Sophos virus engine will form an integral part of the complete email protection system offered by Mail Warden. The service will provide anti-virus protection, innovative anti-spam, smart content and attachment filtering.

"Sophos Anti-Virus combines excellent detection rates and ease of integration with outstanding reliability, making it the obvious choice for the Mail Warden products," said Brian Philipson, Managing Director of IP Engine. "This partnership will allow us to deliver superior anti-virus protection as part of a complete security service."

"Recent virus incidents are evidence that the threat posed by computer viruses is still a substantial one," said Graham Cluley, senior technology consultant for Sophos Anti-Virus. "Mounting a defence at the internet level forms a significant part of any security strategy and we are delighted that our technology has been selected to form the anti-virus factor of these products."

There are two versions of the product available, Mail Warden Unlimited, in which all features are fully configurable, and Mail Warden Lite, which will offer the anti-virus and anti-spam services. Users are not required to change their current ISP to benefit from this product. Sophos Anti-Virus technology will provide the anti-virus protection element of both of these solutions.
